Atlassian CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes announced he will purchase $250 million worth of shares following the company's strong fourth-quarter performance. The Sydney-based software giant reported revenue of $1.8 billion, up 28 percent, and swung to a $139 million net profit, reversing a $24 million loss from the previous year. The company's shares surged 36 percent in after-hours trading after dispelling AI-related sell-off concerns that had battered its stock during the so-called "SaaSpocalypse."

Atlassian, which has reported pre-tax losses since its 2015 listing, expects 2027 revenue growth of 13 percent with stronger margins. Cannon-Brookes dismissed fears that AI would reduce demand for its workplace software products like Jira and Confluence, noting customers are using AI within its platforms. He emphasized Australian companies are "very forward-thinking" in technology adoption.

The CEO's $250 million share buyback will strengthen his 20 percent stake in the company he co-founded with Scott Farquhar. Cannon-Brookes, worth approximately $8.4 billion, stated, "The best is ahead. I think it's a logical decision." Analyst Rob Oliver called the performance an "AI winner emerging" and said the insider buy underscored Cannon-Brookes' conviction that the company is "on the right path to deliver and capture AI value."
