TotalEnergies Profit Surges 68% Amid Iran Conflict

TotalEnergies SE reported that second-quarter profit jumped 68% as the Iran war drove up prices for crude and refined products, countering a decline in its gas segment earnings.

The French energy major benefited from heightened geopolitical tension in the Middle East, which tightened global oil supply expectations and lifted benchmark crude prices. Higher refining margins also contributed to the strong quarterly performance.

While the upstream and downstream divisions capitalized on the price environment, the company's integrated gas, renewables and power unit saw reduced profitability. Lower gas prices and seasonal demand patterns weighed on that segment's results.

TotalEnergies maintained its shareholder return framework, confirming a dividend increase and share buyback program supported by robust cash flow generation during the period.
