Tonino Lamborghini is partnering with Zimbali Lakes Resort to develop a luxury hotel and branded residences near Durban, marking the Italian designer's first African project. The development will feature a 200-room hotel and 73 branded residences at the lifestyle estate backed by Kuwait-listed IFA Hotels & Resorts Co.

Residences are expected to sell for up to 100,000 rand per square meter, potentially generating a total sellout value of approximately 1 billion rand, according to Werner Burger, CEO of IFA's South Africa unit. This project joins other high-end developments reshaping Kwa Zulu-Natal's North Coast, including Club Med SAS's first South African resort.

The region is becoming a preferred destination for wealthy South Africans seeking an alternative to Cape Town, offering warm weather and outdoor lifestyle amenities. Zimbali Lakes already features sprawling mansions, a beach club, and an Ernie Els-designed golf course, with marina development also planned.

Lamborghini's branded residence portfolio includes properties in Dubai and Brazil, with upcoming projects in India and Thailand. As the son of famed auto designer Ferruccio Lamborghini, he continues expanding the family brand beyond automotive luxury into hospitality and real estate.
