Societe Generale has named Selina Cheung head of equity capital markets for Asia Pacific, positioning the French lender to deepen its advisory reach on share sales. Based in Hong Kong, Cheung will steer the origination and execution of equity and equity‑linked deals, expanding the bank’s footprint in a region where IPO activity is surging.

Cheung brings experience from UBS Group AG, where she led unified global banking in APAC. She will report to Stephanie Clement de Givry, SocGen’s regional head of global banking and advisory, and to global ECM co‑heads Jeff Mortara and Anvita Arora, aligning her work with the bank’s broader investment‑banking strategy.

APAC has seen a surge in IPOs, with Hong Kong listings raising over $11 billion this year—more than eleven times the volume in the same period last year, according to Bloomberg data. SocGen’s new ECM leader will tap this momentum, positioning the bank to capture a larger share of the region’s capital‑market activity.

SocGen’s appointment follows a series of senior hires and a 2024 partnership with AllianceBernstein for cash equities and research. By adding Cheung’s expertise, the bank signals its intent to expand its investment‑banking franchise in Asia Pacific and to support clients through every stage of their equity journeys.
