Qatar LNG Plant Survives Drone Strikes, Restart Could Take Months

Qatar's Ras Laffan LNG facility appears undamaged after recent drone strikes, according to Bloomberg's satellite analysis. The world's largest LNG export complex, with 14 production trains, shows intact infrastructure despite earlier shutdowns that sent global gas prices soaring.

Go Matsuo of Tokyo's Energy Economics and Society Research Institute confirmed the findings through separate satellite imagery analysis. The facility's survival comes as a relief to global energy markets already reeling from supply disruptions. QatarEnergy declined to comment on the assessment.

The unprecedented shutdown earlier this week forced power generators and chemical makers to seek alternative fuel supplies. Energy Minister Sherida Al-Kaabi told the Financial Times that even if hostilities ended immediately, restarting the complex would require weeks or months due to the complex restart sequence needed for all 14 production trains.
