Chile's long-dated swaps have surged to an 18-month high, reaching 5.64% for 10-year contracts on Friday, up 52 basis points from their June 30 low. This marks the highest level since February 2025, defying persistent economic headwinds and a weakening fiscal position.

Despite months of negative economic data and rising US Treasury yields, investor confidence in Chile's economic outlook remains resilient. Two-year swaps have also climbed to 4.89%, though they remain below the yearly high of 5.04%.

The jump in swap rates reflects market positioning amid ongoing uncertainty, with investors seemingly focusing on longer-term stability rather than short-term volatility. La Moneda Palace in Santiago, Chile, remains the political and economic hub where these financial developments are closely monitored by policymakers and market participants.
