KKR & Co. has secured more than $10 billion to launch Helix Digital Infrastructure, a new company focused on artificial intelligence infrastructure development and operations. The venture signals the private equity giant's significant bet on the growing AI market, positioning itself to capitalize on the expanding demand for specialized computing resources that support advanced machine learning models and generative AI applications.

Helix will design, build, own and operate AI infrastructure, partnering with hyperscalers to manage data centers, power generation, and connectivity. The company's approach addresses critical bottlenecks in AI development by providing dedicated infrastructure solutions that major cloud providers increasingly need to support advanced AI applications, which require massive computational power and specialized hardware.

Former Amazon Web Services head Adam Selipsky leads this ambitious initiative, bringing enterprise-level cloud expertise to the venture. His leadership suggests KKR aims to bridge the gap between AI development and practical infrastructure deployment, potentially reshaping how private equity approaches technology investments in the rapidly evolving AI landscape where infrastructure has become as valuable as the algorithms themselves.
