A search for three crew members missing after a Thai-flagged cargo vessel was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz failed to locate them, Precious Shipping Pcl said. The Mayuree Naree was struck by Iranian projectiles on March 11 while transiting the strategic waterway in ballast. Of the 23 crew, 20 were rescued by the Omani navy after abandoning ship in a lifeboat.

The missing three were believed trapped in the engine room at the stern, where the ship was hit and a fire broke out. The vessel ran aground on an Iranian island last week, and a search team boarding it found no sign of the missing crew. Managing Director Khalid M.

Hashim confirmed the families were informed and the company will liaise with relevant parties. Thailand had sought Iranian and Omani help in the search and rescue effort. On Saturday, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said Thailand secured assurances from Iran allowing its ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz as the country grapples with fuel shortages.

Bangchak, a Thai refiner, reported a crude oil tanker safely transited the strait. The Mayuree Naree is covered by war-risk insurance, and Precious Shipping stated it does not expect the incident to have a material financial impact or disrupt overall operations at this stage.
