Indonesia has paused talks on President Trump's Board of Peace initiative as diplomatic attention shifts to the escalating Middle East conflict. Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed discussions are on hold, with Indonesia still consulting partners and coordinating with Gulf colleagues who have also been targeted in attacks. The world's largest Muslim-majority nation had been preparing to deploy up to 8,000 troops for Gaza peacekeeping duties.

Domestic opposition grows to Indonesia's involvement in Trump's security plan for Gaza. The influential Majelis Ulama Indonesia urged reconsideration after US and Israeli attacks on Iran triggered regional escalation. President Prabowo, who dined with former leaders to discuss global developments, emphasized potential economic implications particularly to global oil and gas supplies from the Middle East.

Prabowo indicated Indonesia would evaluate its participation in the Board of Peace as geopolitical conditions evolve. Hassan Wirajuda, a former foreign minister, suggested the Iran escalation could reduce the initiative's success likelihood. While Indonesia's potential role as mediator was briefly discussed, Wirajuda noted acceptance from both sides remains unlikely during ongoing conflict.
