Indonesian sovereign wealth fund Danantara has awarded a $1 billion private credit mandate to Swiss asset manager Partners Group, marking one of its largest investments as it expands into global private markets.

The mandate includes $600 million allocated to direct lending opportunities and an additional $400 million discretionary tranche managed by Partners Group alongside co-investment capital, according to sources familiar with the matter.

This move underscores Danantara's strategic push to tap the lucrative private credit sector, leveraging Partners Group's expertise in alternative investments. The allocation represents a significant step in the fund's diversification efforts amid growing demand for private market exposure.

The partnership highlights continued interest from Asian sovereign investors in Western asset managers for specialized credit strategies.
