Barrick Mining Corp. said it safely evacuated workers who had been stranded in their Barriales camp in northern Chile after severe storms blocked road access.

The mining company deployed helicopters to airlift personnel from the remote site after heavy rainfall and flooding made ground transportation impossible. Operations at the camp were temporarily suspended as safety protocols were activated.

A company spokesperson confirmed all workers were accounted for and transported to safe locations without injury. The evacuation highlights the operational challenges faced by mining companies in the Andes region during extreme weather events.

Meteorological services had issued warnings for the area, predicting continued precipitation. Barrick stated it would assess conditions before resuming normal activities at the facility, which supports its regional mining operations.
