### NVIDIA RTX 20-Series GPUs Run DLSS Frame Generation Via Mod

Modders have successfully enabled NVIDIA's official DLSS Frame Generation on GeForce RTX 20-series "Turing" GPUs, which the company never officially supported. Tested on an RTX 2060 Max-Q running The Witcher 3's next-gen update via DirectX 12, the mod activates the in-game Frame Generation toggle and improves framerates. NVIDIA officially restricts Frame Generation to RTX 40-series and above, with Multi Frame Generation limited to RTX 50-series.

This breakthrough builds on prior work that brought Frame Generation to RTX 30-series Ampere GPUs. Unlike earlier mods that rerouted calls through AMD's FSR 3 pipeline, this version runs NVIDIA's actual nvngx\_dlssg 310.1 runtime. It swaps GPU kernels for SM75-compiled versions and tricks the runtime into identifying Turing hardware as Ada Lovelace architecture.

Early results are mixed. One Reddit user reported 2X mode works on RTX 2060, but 3X shows ghosting and 4X fails. Performance reportedly lags slightly behind FSR Frame Generation on the same card. Compatibility issues have also been flagged. The mod remains rough, with limited testing samples, but raises questions about NVIDIA's artificial segmentation of Frame Generation features across GPU generations.
