NHL Injury Woes & Star Power
The Washington Capitals secured a 7-4 victory Thursday night, fueled by a vintage performance from Alex Ovechkin, who registered his 34th career hat trick in the rout over the Mammoth squad. However, the night was marred by significant injury news for two Eastern Conference heavyweights; Panthers forward Evan Rodrigues is likely sidelined for the remainder of the season after breaking a finger on his right hand during a 3-2 defeat against the Wild. Compounding the bad news, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby departed his team's win against the Senators during the second period due to a lower-body issue in what marks his second such absence in just over a week, raising immediate concerns for Pittsburgh's playoff positioning Crosby exited Penguins' win.
