Metropolitan Division Wrap-Up
Following the season-ending loss, Columbus Blue Jackets coach Rick Bowness sharply criticized players, questioning their commitment after an uninspiring performance against Washington. The Capitals secured a 2-1 victory in the finale, where veteran Alex Ovechkin registered an assist on Jakob Chychrun's decisive third-period goal. Despite the win, Ovechkin faced cheers from the crowd urging him to return next season, leaving his contract status unresolved.
