The NCAA transfer portal has reopened for seven former college football players granted a temporary restraining order to return for a fifth year of eligibility. The plaintiffs include running back TJ Harden (SMU), tight end Dae'Quan Wright (Ole Miss), offensive lineman Weylin Lapuaho (BYU), defensive lineman Zxavian Harris (Ole Miss), linebacker Trent Hendrick (James Madison), cornerback Ethan Johnson (App State), and kicker Luke Drzewiecki (New Mexico).

These athletes were among over 30 plaintiffs in a Louisiana court case that secured the TRO, allowing them to enter the transfer portal outside the regular window of Jan. 2-16. The restraining order also enjoined the NCAA's "ghost transfer rule" and restitution policies, permitting players who signed professional contracts or agents to return to college upon terminating those agreements and repaying received funds.

A court date is scheduled for Aug. 31 in Louisiana's 19th Judicial District Court. Several other plaintiffs, including former LSU defensive end Jack Pyburn who recorded two sacks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and former Ole Miss defensive back Wydett Williams Jr. who played with the Arizona Cardinals, must now decide between continuing NFL careers or attempting a college return.
