NBA Preseason Updates
The Hornets shut down guard Coby White for the remainder of the preseason after he suffered a left calf strain during training camp. Meanwhile, the 76ers confirmed that forward Serge Hukporti is out for the season with a torn Achilles, dealing a significant blow to their already thin frontcourt depth. The Clippers announced that wing Max Strus will be reevaluated in four weeks due to a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot.
Off-Court Developments
Broadcaster Mike Breen apologized on air after LeBron James publicly refuted a story he shared suggesting James had called out Joel Embiid during a recent game. In a separate initiative, Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton purchased tickets for Iowa State students to attend the team’s upcoming game against his alma mater, continuing his tradition of supporting student engagement.
League-Wide Innovations
The NBA is experimenting with smart basketballs and referee wrist wearables during preseason games to evaluate real-time data tracking and officiating assistance. Additionally, sources confirmed that Euro League members have rejected a formal NBA offer to merge into a proposed NBA Europe entity, opting instead to pursue independent expansion plans.
