A developer has released Chalkboard, an open-source management system designed for billiard halls. Built with Next.js 15, React 19, and PostgreSQL, the platform handles table sessions, food and beverage orders, payments, and analytics. Many small venue operators in places like Indonesia rely on spreadsheets or costly SaaS platforms.

Chalkboard offers a self-hosted alternative with no vendor lock-in. It supports deployment via Railway, Docker, or even standalone Windows setups. Key features include context-aware F&B orders, multi-language support, and real-time analytics stored directly in PostgreSQL.

The system also handles complex payment flows using a flexible metadata structure. The tool addresses connectivity issues common in Southeast Asia through optimistic UI updates and plans for offline capability. Future updates will introduce a mobile PWA, multi-location support, and a membership system.
