BEnder Removes Runtime Barriers for Universal Framework Use

The latest update to BEnder, a framework‑agnostic boilerplate, eliminates the long‑standing "runtime wall" that forced developers to pair specific web frameworks with either Node.js or Bun. By detecting the installed framework first, BEnder now allows any supported framework—Express, Fastify, Koa, Hono, or Elysia—to run on either runtime without manual configuration. This flexibility is enabled by Bun's robust Node compatibility layer, which lets traditional Node frameworks operate seamlessly, and by Hono's adoption of Web Standard APIs, supported on Node through the @hono/node-server adapter.

Developers can simply install the desired framework and start the server, while Bun continues to deliver its renowned startup speed. The only exception remains Elysia, which stays Bun‑only to preserve its performance optimizations. This shift promotes a more modular development approach, reduces friction when switching runtimes, and encourages broader adoption of emerging standards like Fetch across the JavaScript ecosystem.

The open‑source repository invites developers to experiment with mixed stacks, accelerating innovation and simplifying deployment pipelines.
