Alexander Zverev marked his rise to world number one with a dominant 6-0 6-2 victory over Arthur Fery to reach the Vienna Open semi-finals. The German top seed needed just 58 minutes, dropping only six points on serve and converting five of nine break points. Fery, who received treatment on his leg, was a repeat opponent from their Wimbledon semi-final. "I think Arthur is a bit of a different opponent than I had yesterday.
He doesn't have the same firepower, but he plays tactically extremely well," Zverev said. Fery had reached the last eight by upsetting former world number five Lorenzo Musetti. Zverev is aiming for his third title this year after winning the French Open and US Open.
He will face Alex de Minaur or Matteo Berrettini in the semi-finals. Seven-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz also advanced, defeating Tommy Paul 6-4 7-6 (7-2).
