Yorkshire completed a dominant County Championship victory over Surrey by an innings and 127 runs, taking five wickets before lunch on day four. Surrey, starting the day on 83-5 and trailing by 199, quickly lost key batsmen Dom Sibley and Josh Blake as the home side secured their second win in six matches. The 23 points claimed by Yorkshire improved their Division One standing significantly.

Jack White starred for Yorkshire with the ball, finishing with figures of 3-27 from 11 overs, including crucial wickets of Sibley and Blake. Yorkshire's first-innings total of 486 was built around centuries from Adam Lyth (141) and captain Jonny Bairstow (120), while Australian Test quick Jhye Richardson took a wicket in each innings in his final match for Yorkshire.

The defeat marked Surrey's first in six Division One matches this season, but also their first loss by an innings since late May against Hampshire. Surrey took only two points from the match, leaving them with a record of one win, one loss, and four draws. Sean Abbott provided some resistance with the bat from number nine, but couldn't prevent a comprehensive defeat that leaves both counties with mixed records as attention shifts to the Vitality Blast.
