Warwickshire Bears have secured Pakistan off‑spinner Usman Tariq for this season’s T20 Blast. The 30‑year‑old burst onto the scene with strong showings in the 2025 Pakistan Super League and Caribbean Premier League, then earned a T20 international debut in November, snatching a hat‑trick against Zimbabwe in only his second match and quickly became a fan favourite.

During the 2025 campaign Tariq claimed 18 wickets in nine games at an economy of 6.66 runs per over, bringing his T20 tally to 89 wickets from 60 appearances. Despite featuring in just two first‑class fixtures, his ability to turn matches with spin has attracted interest from clubs worldwide, and Warwickshire reportedly fended off overseas suitors to land him.

Performance director James Thomas praised Tariq as the “high‑impact” player the Bears need, citing his tactical awareness and relentless drive. With the Blast schedule beginning in June, his experience in leagues should bolster Warwickshire’s bowling attack and give them an edge in games. Tariq will also turn out for Birmingham Phoenix in this year’s Hundred, adding exposure. His presence mentors younger bowlers in the squad.
