UFC White House Event Blocked by Federal Lawsuit Over Monument Misuse

A federal lawsuit filed by the Public Integrity Project seeks to stop UFC Freedom 250 from taking place on the White House's South Lawn on June 14. The event, planned for President Trump's 80th birthday as part of semiquincentennial celebrations, faces legal challenges claiming it violates federal rules by using national monuments for private gain.

Lead attorney Brendan Ballou argues the fight does not materially celebrate America's founding and bypasses required permits, congressional approval, and environmental reviews. The anti-corruption firm, led by Democrats including former Senator Russ Feingold, previously sued over TikTok and Trump's anti-weaponization fund.

The Trump administration dismissed the suit as obstructionist and baseless, calling it an attempt to prevent a historic sporting event. Ilia Topuria versus Justin Gaethje headlines in a lightweight title unification bout, with Ciryl Gane facing Alex Pereira in the co-main event for interim heavyweight gold.

A domed structure housing the octagon is already under construction on the South Lawn. The lawsuit, filed in DC District Court on behalf of Virginia residents, calls this arrangement a corrupt scheme enriching Trump and UFC president Dana White at taxpayer expense.
