Francis Tiafoe completed a remarkable comeback to defeat Alex Michelsen and reach the US Open semi-finals. Tiafoe was two sets and a break down against the unseeded American before fighting back from 5-3 down in the third set, with Michelsen serving for the match. The eleventh seed saved three match points and forced a decisive fifth set.

In a tense 10-point tie-break, Tiafoe triumphed 7-6 (10-6) to win 5-7 3-6 7-5 6-3 7-6 (10-6). The four-hour, 38-minute victory sends Tiafoe into his third US Open semi-final in five years. He will face either Carlos Alcaraz or Ben Shelton.

Michelsen, competing in his first Grand Slam quarter-final, was in tears after the match. Tiafoe credited his transformation to a rigorous routine and fitness overhaul following last year's third-round loss. He stated, "I'm just a different person in general.".
