Teenagers Victoria Mboko and Iva Jovic are the breakout stories of the Australian Open women's draw. Mboko, the 17th seed, outlasted Clara Tauson in three sets to set up a daunting last-16 clash with world number one Aryna Sabalenka. Jovic, the 29th seed, claimed her maiden top-10 victory by defeating seventh seed Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 7-6.

Both North American rising stars have also teamed up in doubles, where they'll face fourth seeds Elise Mertens and Zhang Shuai. Mboko, the WTA's 2025 Newcomer of the Year, has rocketed from outside the top 300 into the top 20. Jovic, just 18, has arrived in Melbourne without dropping a set, crediting advice from Novak Djokovic for her poised performance.

Their success underscores a generational shift, with other teenagers like Czechs Nikola Bartunkova and Tereza Valentova also making deep runs. Mboko and Jovic now carry the hopes of the new guard as they chase major quarter-final berths, proving the future of the WTA Tour is already here.
