Former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran died at age 38. Zadran was being treated for a rare immune condition in New Delhi. He represented Afghanistan in 44 ODIs and 36 T20 internationals between 2009 and 2020, taking 80 wickets.

Zadran famously hit the winning runs that secured Afghanistan's first-ever World Cup victory against Scotland in 2015. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) recognized him as one of the "foundation-laying figures" whose dedication was instrumental in the nation's cricket development.

His career contributions and achievements are considered an important part of Afghanistan's cricketing history. Former India all-rounder Ravi Shastri echoed the sentiment, calling Zadran one of the "main architects" behind Afghanistan's rise in world cricket.
