Ryan Garcia defends his WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Garcia, who turned professional in 2016, won 15 national amateur titles and began his career with a 20-fight win streak. He captured the interim WBC lightweight title by stopping Luke Campbell in round seven but suffered his first loss to Gervonta Davis in his 24th bout. In 2024, Garcia missed weight against Devin Haney; the decision win was overturned to a no-contest, and he received a one-year suspension for a failed drugs test. After losing to Rolly Romero in May 2025, Garcia rebounded with a decision win over Barrios in February to claim his first world title.

Benn also debuted in 2016, winning his first 23 fights. He was suspended in 2023 after failing two voluntary drugs tests. The National Anti-Doping Panel lifted his ban, but UK Anti-Doping Agency (Ukad) and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBof C) kept him sidelined in the UK. He fought twice in the United States, beating Rodolfo Orozco and Peter Dobson, before his ban was lifted after a two-year battle. Benn lost to Eubank in April 2025 but avenged that sole defeat seven months later.
