Ruby White, a 19-year-old from Sturminster Newton, has gone 68 fights unbeaten and was surprised when Rob Mc Cracken of GB Boxing called her for a Commonwealth Games call‑up. She joined the Great Britain Boxing academy in May after starting boxing at age seven and is nicknamed the "Pocket Rocket".

White won the 2024 under‑19 world title and, in February, claimed the Golden Girls Boxing Cup in Sweden, where more than 500 female boxers competed. She now fights in the flyweight 51kg class and is one of 14 boxers selected for England, all making their Games debut.

She cites Nicola Adams and Lauren Price as inspirations and hopes to follow their footsteps by winning Commonwealth gold before targeting the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Her first bout in Glasgow is against South Africa’s Thandolwethu Mathiba; she admits she will feel nervous but is determined to perform.

"I’ve never lost since I was 11, so every opponent wants to take my unbeaten record," White said, "but I want it more."
