Ryo Hisatsune shot a course-record 10-under 62 to set the pace at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, while Rory McIlroy's promising front nine was undone by a cold putter on the back nine. The 23-year-old Japanese golfer birdied four of the final five holes to post a stunning first-round score, finishing six strokes ahead of McIlroy, who sits at four-under 68.

McIlroy, the world number two, opened with consecutive birdies but double-bogeyed two par-3s after the turn, ending his day with a four-under total. Hisatsune's 62 is the lowest first-round score in the event's history, showcasing his exceptional form. The tournament, featuring a $20m purse, continues with the second round split between Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill courses.
