Paris-Nice Cycling Race Summit Finish Canceled Due to Snow as Vingegaard Extends Lead

Organizers of the Paris-Nice cycling race have scrapped plans for a summit finish in Auron on Saturday's penultimate stage due to heavy snow. Forecasts indicate the rain-snow line is around 1,100 meters altitude, making the traditional finish point unfeasible. Race organizers confirmed moving the finish elsewhere is not possible, citing dangerous conditions. Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard now holds a comfortable three minutes and 22 seconds lead over his nearest rival in the general classification after winning the fourth and fifth stages.

The 29-year-old Visma Lease a Bike rider, aiming for his first Paris-Nice victory, acknowledged the challenging weather during Friday's stage, joking he has his winter pants ready but wouldn't wish the finish on anyone even with them.
