Magherafelt claimed the Derry Senior Football Championship title for the first time since 2019 with a victory over Newbridge at Celtic Park. Goals from Johnny Mc Erlain, Aidan Mc Cluskey, and Cormac Murphy were decisive, but the defining moment was an unanswered 1-12 either side of half-time. Conall Higgins was named man-of-the-match after contributing 0-9, including three two-point kicks, helping Magherafelt build a 0-13 to 0-7 lead at the break.
Although Newbridge fought back in the second half, Magherafelt extended their advantage. Newbridge's scoring drought lasted 20 minutes, during which Magherafelt netted further goals. Cormac Murphy's late goal sealed the win.
The team will now represent Derry in the Ulster Club Championship, beginning with a quarter-final against Monaghan winners Scotstown.
