Leeds on Brink of Survival After Burnley Win: Farke's Tactical Masterclass

Leeds United all but secured Premier League survival with a 3-1 victory over already-relegated Burnley at Elland Road. Dominic Calvert-Lewin capped a fine display by capping the scoring, prompting home fans to chant "we are staying up" as the Whites moved up to 14th in the table. The result puts Leeds on the brink of mathematical safety with three games remaining.

The turnaround traces back to a November defeat by Manchester City. After falling 2-0 down, manager Daniel Farke made a bold tactical switch, introducing Calvert-Lewin and defender Jaka Bijol to change formation from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2. Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp said Farke was "under real pressure" and would have lost his job had Leeds lost that game.

Since that pivotal moment, Leeds have lost just four of 19 league games - the ninth-best record in the division. Ethan Ampadu said after the Burnley win the team had put themselves in a "strong position" and wanted to give fans a bank holiday weekend to enjoy. If Leeds retain their status, it would mark Farke's first Premier League survival in his career after failing to achieve it during his time at Norwich.
