England's Gabriel Langton says he feared for his future in gymnastics after a horror fall at the Commonwealth Games 2026. The teenager lost his grip attempting a handstand on the high bar, falling head first onto the mat. After a lengthy delay, he was taken away on a trolley and stretcher. Scans showed swelling and bruising, allowing him to leave hospital Saturday night. "A little bit sore and a little bit stiff but that is to be expected," he said. "I can't really complain too much."

The England team secured a silver medal behind Canada. Langton received his medal at the team hotel Saturday evening, with teammates and coaches applauding him. "That was incredible," he said. "Seeing all of the team-mates, coaches and getting my medal. I saw my personal coach from Birmingham. It was so nice."

With no further competition, Langton returned Sunday to support teammates in the men's all-around final. He plans to "take it easy for a couple of days and do the rehab" before returning to training. "I trust in my gymnastics capability," he said. "It was really just a freak accident."
