World number one Judd Trump stormed into the Masters quarter-finals with a commanding 6-2 victory over Ding Junhui at Alexandra Palace. Trump fired three century breaks, extending his winning streak against Ding to five consecutive matches. The Englishman's clinical display underlined his current form, leaving his Chinese opponent struggling to keep pace throughout the contest.

Trump raced to a 3-0 lead with breaks of 116 and 69. Ding briefly responded with runs of 98 and 53 to close to 3-2, but his challenge quickly faded. Trump reasserted control with an 88 break, a superb 117, and sealed victory with a 109. His dominance was total.

Trump admitted he felt confident despite a month away from tournaments, telling BBC Sport he has been practicing hard. He now faces Northern Ireland's Mark Allen in the last eight on Thursday. Trump also noted the unusual pattern at this year's Masters, where every match so far has ended 6-2.
