Benhard Janse van Rensburg, now eligible for England after five years in the league, has earned a spot in the Premiership team of the season for three consecutive campaigns. His versatility—playing both inside and outside centre—expands England’s midfield options as the side seeks to halt a sixth straight Test defeat.

Gloucester’s Seb Atkinson, who led the Premiership in gain‑line carries, has emerged as the first‑choice inside centre, starting England’s last three Tests. The 24‑year‑old provides a hard‑running presence that balances Janse van Rensburg’s defensive hits with creative play.

England have also tried to mould wing Tommy Freeman into a breaking 13, with seven of his nine recent appearances at outside centre. Other midfield selections include Max Ojomoh and Henry Slade.

The addition of Janse van Rensburg strengthens England’s midfield depth and gives coach Richard Wigglesworth new tactical permutations, a vital change as the team battles to avoid another consecutive Test loss.
