Hull KR extended their derby dominance to eight straight wins with a 26-12 victory over Hull FC at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Magic Weekend's opening day. Mikey Lewis and Rhyse Martin crossed early for a 12-4 half-time lead before Jake Arthur and Tom Briscoe hauled FC level at 12-12. Late tries from Jai Whitbread and Tyrone May, sparked by a Lewis Martin handling error, sealed the win and kept the Robins firmly in the Betfred Super League top six on points difference.

Martin finished with 16 points from a try, three conversions and two penalties, while Hull FC's Zak Hardaker added a conversion and penalty. The Black and Whites rallied superbly after the break, with Briscoe's corner finish and Hardaker's boot drawing them level entering the final quarter. But KR's resilience told — Whitbread pounced on a loose ball in the 67th minute and May finished a Jez Litten grubber six minutes later to kill the contest.

Hull FC coach Andy Last was left ruing a missed sin-bin call on Peta Hiku and the decisive Martin error, though he praised his side's spirit in pushing a top-six team to the wire. Willie Peters acknowledged his side's performance needs sharpening but valued the two competition points in a tightening play-off race. Hull FC sit 10th with Bradford closing in, while KR's derby stranglehold continues.
