Lewis Hamilton says Formula 1 has "never had anyone like me in the 70 years" of the sport and reaffirmed his determination to keep racing into his mid-forties. The seven-time world champion recently stated he wants to continue to fulfil a dream of racing in Africa, following F1's 10-year deal with Rwanda starting in the early 2030s. Hamilton, who will be at least 45 when the Rwanda race takes place, told a news conference before the Mexico Grand Prix that he should be considered a special case.
He dismissed concerns about age, claiming his reaction time in the last race was faster than some of the youngest drivers. "As long as you are willing to sacrifice everything, which I am right now," Hamilton said, adding he cannot say in four years whether he will want to continue but that he will be racing for the foreseeable future.
