Paul Farbrace will remain with Sussex Cricket, transitioning from head coach to director of cricket starting in November. The former England assistant coach will take on the new role part-time, allowing the financially troubled club time to secure a new head coach.

Farbrace stated he still believes stepping down as head coach was the right decision but sees the director of cricket role as an opportunity to continue supporting the players and staff. This move offers some stability to Sussex, which has grappled with significant off-field financial challenges, including a £1.3 million loss reported in 2023.

The club has faced penalties, including a 12-point deduction in the County Championship and additional points deductions for white-ball competitions, due to sustained operating losses. Several players, including Henry Crocombe and Fynn Hudson-Prentice, are set to depart as the club navigates salary cap restrictions through 2028.
