Britain's Ethan Vernon secured his maiden professional victory in a thrilling sprint finish at the shortened stage four of the Volta a Catalunya. The 25-year-old NSN Cycling Team rider attacked on the final run-in to Camprodon, outpacing Ineos Grenadiers' Dorian Godon and Tom Pidcock to claim victory. Vernon's tactical execution paid off as organisers moved the finish line 22km earlier due to high winds, neutralising the original climb-heavy route.

Godon maintained his overall lead by 13 seconds, with Pidcock climbing to second and Remco Evenepoel dropping to third. Two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard remains 24 seconds behind the Ineos leader. Vernon, reflecting on his breakthrough, noted the stage's altered dynamics: "The change calmed everything down," he explained, crediting his team's pre-race strategy to seize the opportunity.
