Irish champion jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle delivered a stunning performance in the Oaks at Epsom, guiding Thundering On from last place to a decisive victory. The 5-1 shot trained by Joseph O'Brien was trailing early but surged impressively up the home straight. McMonagle's masterful ride drew praise as the filly accelerated away to win by three-and-three-quarter lengths.

McMonagle expressed confidence in Thundering On's abilities, noting "there was never a moment's doubt" she would win. "She sprinted away from them. She's very, very talented," the jockey stated. Earlier in the day, Oisin Murphy secured another victory in the Diomed Stakes, guiding Seagulls Eleven to a narrow nose win over last year's champion Persica.

Seagulls Eleven, owned by footballers including James Milner and his Brighton teammates Danny Welbeck and Lewis Dunk, showed tremendous heart in holding off a late challenge. Trainer Hugo Palmer admitted he thought they were done before the horse responded. The double victory highlighted the dominance of Irish-trained horses at the prestigious Epsom meeting.
