England beat India by five runs in Cardiff as Nat Sciver-Brunt made 57 off 45 balls in a useful World Cup warm-up. After India chased 172, they fell to 87-5 before Richa Ghosh dragged the match back into reach with a sharp late surge.

Ghosh finished on 68 from 36 balls, including 21 from Issy Wong's penultimate over, then hit a six and a four off Linsey Smith. Smith kept her composure, stumping Ghosh and then removing Renuka Singh Thakur to finish with 3-42 for England.

England's total came from 171-6 in their 20 overs, built by Amy Jones' fluent 64 at the top and Dani Gibson's late 30 from 12 balls. India's Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma took quick middle-order wickets to slow the hosts.

The match gave England a sharper finish after losing their previous warm-up to Australia, while Sciver-Brunt gained more time in the middle after managing a calf injury. India leave Cardiff with batting evidence from Ghosh and a bowling spell from Shafali Verma.
