Christian Fuchs Future: Newport Manager or Leicester Return?

Christian Fuchs guided Newport County to survival on the final day of the season, but the Leicester City legend now faces a pivotal summer. The Exiles escaped relegation with a win at Barrow – exactly 10 years to the day since Leicester's famous Premier League title triumph. "It was meant to be, I guess," Fuchs admitted amid the celebrations at Holker Street.

Leicester fans have already urged the club to bring back their former captain, with one telling the BBC: "It has to be title-winning Christian Fuchs. He could build a new young team and be an inspiring in-house leader like Michael Carrick at Manchester United." However, Fuchs signed a long-term contract with Newport in November when the club sat bottom of League Two, and chairman Huw Jenkins will be quick to point out that commitment.

Fuchs is already turning his attention to next season, knowing Newport could have a new-look squad with as many as 17 players either out of contract or returning to parent clubs. Keeping key players like Kamwa – who scored vital goals in the final two games – and captain Matt Baker will be vital. While there's no firm suggestion Leicester are considering a move, the bookmakers' favourite for that job is currently Darren Ferguson.
