Bianca Andreescu's ITF Tour Comeback After US Open Glory

Former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu has returned to professional tennis through the ITF tour, winning a $3,000 tournament in Bradenton after more than two years without a title. The 25-year-old Canadian, who captured the 2019 Grand Slam at 19, has been rebuilding her career following a series of injuries that dropped her ranking to 228th.

Andreescu's promising career collapsed after her historic US Open victory over Serena Williams, with knee injuries, abdominal issues, and an appendectomy delaying her 2025 season. She admitted struggling with the pressures of Grand Slam success and lacking guidance as a teenager. Moving to the ITF tour, where players often retrieve their own balls and crowds are sparse, reignited her competitive fire.

The former world number four played 14 matches in 16 days on the ITF circuit, a pace that prepared her for higher-level competition. Her aggressive style under new coach Dusan Vemic, known for working with Novak Djokovic, has helped her rediscover form. Andreescu, now ranked 137th, is back in French Open qualifying, focusing on balance through spirituality, music, and charity work away from tennis.
