Jacob Bethell will return for England's white-ball tour of Australia, which also brings first international call-ups for prospects Thomas Rew and Eddie Jack. Warwickshire's Jacob Bethell has not played since suffering a knee injury in July but is back as part of a near-full-strength squad for three one-day internationals.

England have made changes for the five T20s, resting players ahead of the Test tour of South Africa. That opens the door for 18-year-old Somerset wicketkeeper-batter Thomas Rew and Hampshire's 21-year-old pace bowler Eddie Jack. National selector Marcus North praised Rew, saying he has "a great maturity around him for an 18-year-old." He also described Jack as another example of a system that has been supporting and developing England's fast bowlers.

The tour begins with the first ODI in Perth on 13 November and ends with the final T20 in Canberra on 2 December. The first T20 is at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 21 November. Head coach Brendon McCullum wanted a strong team for the ODI leg ahead of next year's World Cup in southern Africa, and conceded he would have to rotate his squad for the T20s during a busy winter of five overseas tours.

If Rew plays, he would become the third-youngest man to make his England debut in any format and the youngest to play against Australia. He is the younger brother of James Rew, who debuted for England against New Zealand at The Oval in June.
