Mirra Andreeva captured her first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros 2026, defeating Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-3 6-2. The 19-year-old Russian became the youngest woman to win the French Open since Monica Seles in 1992, celebrating with coach Conchita Martinez after the 1 hour and 22-minute victory.

Chwalinska, a 500-1 tournament outsider, earned £1.2m in prize money and climbed to a career-high ranking of 21st. Despite the defeat, the qualifier's remarkable fortnight in Paris transformed her career, bringing financial security after years struggling on the lower rungs of professional tennis.

Andreeva has fulfilled the potential shown since her 2023 breakthrough in Madrid. Her victory comes after reaching the 2024 French Open semi-finals and winning two WTA 1000 titles in 2025. The Siberia-born player has now cemented her status among tennis elite with a Roland Garros triumph that proves her Grand Slam pedigree.
