World Cup Train Fares Soar for Scotland, England Fans in Boston

Scotland and England fans face staggering train fare hikes to attend World Cup matches in Boston, with round-trip tickets priced at $80 — over four times the usual rate. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) confirmed matchday fares from South Station to Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium (rebranded for FIFA) will cost $80 per person, compared to standard matchday rates of $20. Non-matchday single tickets, typically $8.75, will also apply.

The price surge has sparked outrage, with Scottish supporters’ co-founder Paul Goodwin calling it “totally out of order,” warning fans may resort to “second mortgages and credit card debt” to afford travel.
