Cape Verde's World Cup hero, goalkeeper Vozinha, has received an extraordinary honor: a newly discovered species of sea slug has been named after him. Biologist Jesus Ortea discovered the small red mollusc in the Caribbean and chose to name it "Aldisa vozinha" in recognition of the 40-year-old's standout performances in the recent World Cup.

Vozinha played a prominent role in Cape Verde's historic World Cup campaign, where the nation, the second smallest to ever reach the finals, advanced from the group stage. They narrowly lost 3-2 in extra time to Argentina in the Round of 32. Earlier, Vozinha's heroics, including a remarkable performance against Spain, secured Cape Verde's first World Cup point in a draw.

The naming reflects Vozinha's "prominent role" and the red color of the slug serves as a reminder of his achievements, particularly his standout game against "La Roja." Vozinha's fame surged, with his Instagram followers increasing dramatically. This isn't Ortea's first time combining his scientific work with his passion for football; he previously named species after other goalkeepers like Keylor Navas and former striker Quini.
