Thomas Tuchel has submitted his 55-man provisional England squad for the upcoming World Cup, with Luke Shaw, Danny Welbeck, and Alex Scott believed to be among the players named. The right-back position remains a significant talking point, with Alexander-Arnold facing an uphill battle to make the final cut.

Tuchel prefers Chelsea's Reece James, Newcastle's Tino Livramento, and Arsenal's Ben White at right-back. White is a major doubt with a knee injury, while Livramento is currently unavailable. James, Tuchel's first-choice, has only recently returned from injury. Shaw could earn an international recall after making 36 appearances for United this season.

Welbeck has scored 14 goals for Brighton this season but remains uncapped under Tuchel. Scott was called up to the senior squad for the first time in November but was omitted from Tuchel's previous party. The final squad will need to be trimmed to 26 players by the tournament deadline.
