Tottenham have completed the signing of Scotland forward Kirsty Hanson from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee. The 28-year-old impressed in the Women's Super League last season, netting 12 goals in 22 matches. Only Manchester City's Khadija Shaw and Arsenal's Alessia Russo found the net more frequently, while Hanson claimed Villa's player of the year award and the WSL goal of the season for her strike against West Ham.

Hanson's departure represents a significant loss for Villa, who had hoped to retain their star forward. She had one year remaining on her contract and scored six goals in 48 appearances for Scotland. 'I'm absolutely delighted. It's an exciting time to be a part of this club,' Hanson said, expressing her desire for a new challenge and willingness to improve daily.

Tottenham manager Martin Ho worked with Hanson previously at Manchester United during his spell as assistant coach. 'I know Kirsty well and know the qualities she brings both as a player and as a person,' Ho explained. He praised her WSL experience, international pedigree with Scotland, and hunger to develop further.

The signing demonstrates Tottenham's ambition in the transfer market after finishing fifth in the 2025-26 season under Ho's leadership. Reuniting with their manager, Hanson will add proven goal-scoring quality to Spurs' attack as they look to challenge higher in the table next campaign.
