Former Norwich City and Finland striker Teemu Pukki has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36.
Pukki, who quit international duty last year, is Finland's men's all-time top scorer with 43 goals in 133 matches. His number of caps is also the second highest in the country's history. At Norwich City, he scored 88 goals in 210 appearances between 2018 and 2023, helping the Canaries win promotion to the Premier League twice.
"I've gained a lot more from football than I ever dreamed of when I was a little boy," Pukki wrote on Instagram. "I've seen the world and gained experience because of football, and I don't think I could have gotten anything like football anywhere else."
He added that the game had not always been fun and that he had not always been able to enjoy it, but his love for football had remained constant. He thanked the clubs and their fans for their support.
Pukki has played for HJK Helsinki in his homeland since 2025 and will retire after the conclusion of the Veikkausliiga season on 8 November. His other former clubs include Celtic, where he scored nine goals in 38 appearances between 2013 and 2015, as well as Schalke, Brondby and Minnesota United.
