Khadija Shaw has committed her future to Manchester City, signing a new four-year deal until 2030 just days after it appeared the Jamaica striker would be leaving the Women's Super League champions. The 29-year-old announced her contract renewal on stage at City's end of season celebrations, where she also collected the player of the season trophy after finishing as the WSL's top scorer for a third consecutive campaign with 21 goals in 22 games.

Chelsea had been favourites to secure Shaw as a free agent after initial contract talks broke down. She has scored 117 goals in 137 appearances since joining City in 2021, becoming the club's record goalscorer. Director of football Therese Sjogran said: "It's a huge statement from City that we've secured the services of one of the best centre-forwards in the world." The contract represents the most significant WSL contract u-turn in memory.

City face Brighton in the Women's FA Cup final on Sunday as they hunt a domestic double. Shaw also won the Football Writers' Association women's footballer of the year award this season. "There is no place I would rather be," she told fans at the celebrations.
